Water application is the most important action on the fireground. However, in situations involving water supply problems, long or complicated hose stretches, standpipe operations, unknown fire location, or confirmed life hazards, crews may need to operate inside a structure before a hoseline is in place.

This class focuses on how to perform those operations as safely and effectively as possible.

Students will review modern fireground considerations including fire dynamics related to building contents, ventilation, and construction. Additional focus areas include thermal imaging use, door control, search techniques, and maintaining firefighter confidence while operating in high-risk environments.

The course combines classroom discussion, skill stations, demonstrations, and live-fire training to reinforce safe and effective search and interior operations without the protection of a hoseline.
